September 10, 2017- Sunday-#474 Daily Morning Bible Reading and Meditation- Psalm 17 KJV
***Hear the right, O LORD , attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.***
[1] Hear the right, O Lord , attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.
[2] Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.
[3] Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.
[4] Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.
[5] Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.
[6] I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.
[7] Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them .
[8] Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
[15] As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
Words to ponder for today:
Feigned Lips
Feign meaning: mock, pretend, assuming, false
Pretentious lips: this is the content of this verse from the Psalmist prayer.
As I have not enough time to dig deeper from this chapter, because of these very reasons;
* i slept late due to heavy traffic I have encountered from the funeral service I have attended as part of my ministry.
* when I wake up at 4:30 and about to do my early morning devotion, an issue which upset my neighbor outburst, and have taken my senses that I was a bit distracted; and resorted to read Matthew Henry's Concise commentary which help me bring back my focus in my morning devotion.
I hope this also will help you when at this moment you are going through the same:
17:1-7 This psalm is a prayer. Feigned prayers are fruitless; but if our hearts lead our prayers, God will meet them with his favour. The psalmist had been used to pray, so that it was not his distress and danger that now first brought him to his duty. And he was encouraged by his faith to expect God would notice his prayers. Constant resolution and watchfulness against sins of the tongue, will be a good evidence of our integrity. Aware of man's propensity to wicked works, and of his own peculiar temptations, David had made God's word his preservative from the paths of Satan, which lead to destruction. If we carefully avoid the paths of sin, it will be very lead to destruction. If we carefully avoid the paths of sin, it will be very comfortable in the reflection, when we are in trouble. Those that are, through grace, going in God's paths, should pray that their goings may be held up in those paths. David prays, Lord, still hold me up. Those who would proceed and persevere in the ways of God, must, by faith prayer, get daily fresh supplies of grace and strength from him. Show thy marvellous loving-kindness, distinguishing favours, not common mercies, but be gracious to me; do as thou usest to do to those who love thy name.

We too most of the time are carried away by circumstances and adversities.
Let our prayer be sincere, genuine, spontaneous and unfeigned. That GOD our Holy Loving Father may be gracious unto us and answer our prayers according to the purity of our heart.
Let us meekly and humbly come into His presence, asking forgiveness if we have offended others. Admit our errors and fault. Beseech GOD's forgiveness, and Cast all our cares upon Him, that HIS mercy may Deliver us from the devil's snare; from the confusion and weariness he is trying to delude us, which will sorely affect the serenity of our thoughts.
Let us always be reminded from this words:
1 Peter 5:6-9 KJV
[6] Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
[7] Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
[8] Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
[9] Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
Let us give our service unto our GOD with purity. That we may seek first to honor Him not with feigned lips but with the sincerity of our heart.
Have a blessed Sunday today!
Psalm 17:1-15 KJV
[8] Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings, [9] From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about. [10] They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly. [11] They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth; [12] Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places. [13] Arise, O Lord , disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword: [14] From men which are thy hand, O Lord , from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure : they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes. [15] As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
