The LORD Delivered

April 26, 2020- Sunday-#208- Daily Bible Reading and Meditation- Judges 12 KJV

***[3] And when I saw that ye delivered me not, I put my life in my hands, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and the Lord delivered them into my hand: wherefore then are ye come up unto me this day, to fight against me?***

[1] And the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and went northward, and said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passedst thou over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thine house upon thee with fire.

[2] And Jephthah said unto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon; and when I called you, ye delivered me not out of their hands.

[3] And when I saw that ye delivered me not, I put my life in my hands, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and the Lord delivered them into my hand: wherefore then are ye come up unto me this day, to fight against me?

Words to ponder for today:

The LORD Delivered

Of all the ups and downs, challenges and warfares that Jephthah had faced in  life, The LORD is his Deliverer and Comforter.

Here comes again the Ephraimites, who like what they did to Gideon, wanted to get credit from the battle  won, by antagonizing Jephthah, who stand and took the lead.
But unlike Gideon, who humbled himself and gave their most wanted glorying, Jephthah did not tolerated Ephraimites haughtiness. For he and his men gave in to their provocative threatening to burn down their houses.
And so, there fell among them forty two thousand men in the hand of their brethren; the Gileadites, in the leadership of Jephthah.
Though the latter judging lasted only for six years, the significant of his deeds brought a lot of lesson to each of us believers, such as:
GOD is the Author of all power. None has the right to question why He raised a judge from an unwanted person, from the lowest state of life, even the one who was born from harlotry, such as Jephthah.

He knows the hatred, haughtiness and hastiness of the heart of Jephthah, that might be also the reason why GOD allowed his daughter to come out of his tenth to meet him from war; becoming his burnt offering, which he vowed a vow for The LORD. This is of course aside from the fact that what had happened is an emblem of GOD’s future sacrifice of His Only Beloved Child. A pure and perfect sacrifice, He is about to offer His own blood for the sin of mankind.

The haughtiness and prideful heart of the Ephraimites  took its toll. For The LORD allowed Jephthah and his men, that the men of Ephraim be slaughtered in the hands of their brethren, whom The LORD empowered to save them from the enemies trying to besiege them.

Let each one of us who are truly saved stand still and do what The LORD’s will.

For as The GOD our Creator delivered the enemies in Jephthah’s hands, He also, in our weaknesses, will deliver us up from this great pandemic that overwhelmed our land.

May our faith be upon only in The LORD JESUS CHRIST, who is the ultimate sacrifice, GOD His Father gave to save us and cover us from eternal perdition.
Let each of GOD’s save people be not found in hatred, haughtiness and hastiness of heart against our brethren who bravely fight to conquer, but let us all be in one mind  to be faithful in sharing GOD’s grace, mercy and love to others who are confused and lost.

Let this always be a reminder to all of us:

Romans 12:1-2 KJV
“[1] I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is
your reasonable service. [2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Have a blessed Sunday morning to all.

Judges 12:1-15 KJV
[4] Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites. [5] And the Gileadites took the passages of Jordan before the Ephraimites: and it was so, that when those Ephraimites which were escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of Gilead said unto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay; [6] Then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not frame to pronounce it right. Then they took him, and slew him at the passages of Jordan: and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand. [7] And Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then died Jephthah the Gileadite, and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead. [8] And after him Ibzan of Beth-lehem judged Israel. [9] And he had thirty sons, and thirty daughters, whom he sent abroad, and took in thirty daughters from abroad for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years. [10] Then died Ibzan, and was buried at Beth-lehem. [11] And after him Elon, a Zebulonite, judged Israel; and he judged Israel ten years. [12] And Elon the Zebulonite died, and was buried in Aijalon in the country of Zebulun. [13] And after him Abdon the son of Hillel, a Pirathonite, judged Israel. [14] And he had forty sons and thirty nephews, that rode on threescore and ten ass colts: and he judged Israel eight years. [15] And Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died, and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the mount of the Amalekites.
