Upright, Good

June 7, 2020- Sunday-#239- Daily Bible Reading and Meditation- Old Testament 1 Samuel 29 KJV

***[6] Then Achish called David, and said unto him, Surely, as the Lord liveth, thou hast been upright, and thy going out and thy coming in with me in the host is good in my sight: for I have not found evil in thee since the day of thy coming unto me unto this day: nevertheless the lords favour thee not.***

[5] Is not this David, of whom they sang one to another in dances, saying, Saul slew his thousands, and David his ten thousands?

[6] Then Achish called David, and said unto him, Surely, as the Lord liveth, thou hast been upright, and thy going out and thy coming in with me in the host is good in my sight: for I have not found evil in thee since the day of thy coming unto me unto this day: nevertheless the lords favour thee not.

[7] Wherefore now return, and go in peace, that thou displease not the lords of the Philistines.

[9] And Achish answered and said to David, I know that thou art good in my sight, as an angel of God: notwithstanding the princes of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle.

Words to ponder for today:
Upright, Good

Achis the king of the Philistine called David upright and good in his sight, and considered the latter as the angel of The LORD to him.
But in the time that they should go to battle Israel again, David was rejected by the princes of the Philistines. They refused to let him and his men be with them in their conquering assault against the kingdom of Israel,  because they knew David’s gallantry and loyalty to his master King Saul.
David’s uprightness, goodness and his testimony beset the heart of the King of Gath; giving him his full trust and reliance.
Noted are the works of The LORD in His life; set him as an example of honesty and trustworthiness for us believers. His life and the circumstances he had been into, is also a typology of what has to come in the future of GOD’s people even His Son JESUS CHRIST and His body; which is the church.
He and his people were removed by GOD from the land of Israel before he executed His judgement to King Saul. His hand GOD did spared from shedding blood against his brethren, and spared him from compromising his faithfulness toward the enemy of his own land, who secured him when he was hotly pursued by his enemy: King Saul.

The LORD has a plan of taking His church away from this world before He will pour out His great wrath. 1 Cor. 15:52, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
He is also sparing us to compromised our faith against His enemies by securing us in this world where we live in; by giving us peace in the midst of GOD’s warfare against them who do not believe in Him. As it was written by Apostle Paul:  1 Corinthians 10:13-14 KJV
“[13] There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
[14] Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.”

Let us not grow weary and hasty in placing our safety and needs in our own hands. But let us be upright and good in the sight of GOD and mankind; depart not to  keep on trusting JESUS CHRIST our LORD and His plan.

He knows what is ahead, He knew before we say our needs.
Let us be persistent in our prayers and we will surely be blessed.

Good morning!

1 Samuel 29:1-11 KJV
[1] Now the Philistines gathered together all their armies to Aphek: and the Israelites pitched by a fountain which is in Jezreel. [2] And the lords of the Philistines passed on by hundreds, and by thousands: but David and his men passed on in the rereward with Achish. [3] Then said the princes of the Philistines, What do these Hebrews here ? And Achish said unto the princes of the Philistines, Is not this David, the servant of Saul the king of Israel, which hath been with me these days, or these years, and I have found no fault in him since he fell unto me unto this day? [4] And the princes of the Philistines were wroth with him; and the princes of the Philistines said unto him, Make this fellow return, that he may go again to his place which thou hast appointed him, and let him not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he be an adversary to us: for wherewith should he reconcile himself unto his master? should it not be with the heads of these men? [5] Is not this David, of whom they sang one to another in dances, saying, Saul slew his thousands, and David his ten thousands? [6] Then Achish called David, and said unto him, Surely, as the Lord liveth, thou hast been upright, and thy going out and thy coming in with me in the host is good in my sight: for I have not found evil in thee since the day of thy coming unto me unto this day: nevertheless the lords favour thee not. [7] Wherefore now return, and go in peace, that thou displease not the lords of the Philistines. [8] And David said unto Achish, But what have I done? and what hast thou found in thy servant so long as I have been with thee unto this day, that I may not go fight against the enemies of my lord the king? [9] And Achish answered and said to David, I know that thou art good in my sight, as an angel of God: notwithstanding the princes of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle. [10] Wherefore now rise up early in the morning with thy master's servants that are come with thee: and as soon as ye be up early in the morning, and have light, depart. [11] So David and his men rose up early to depart in the morning, to return into the land of the Philistines. And the Philistines went up to Jezreel.
