August 2, 2023- Morning Bible Reading, Devotion and Meditation- Habakkuk 2 KJV
“2 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”
Words to ponder for today: Plain Prophecy
Plain meaning⁃ : evident to the mind or senses : OBVIOUS
⁃ characterized by simplicity : not complicated
In Habakkuk 1 & 2, we can see the Prophet’s Problem- Hab. 1:12-17, Hab. 2:1 KJV
In Hab. 2:2-4, is GOD’s Pronouncement.
1 Proud were rebuked.
In respect of the context, Habakkuk 2:1 is considered at the end of the commentary on Habakkuk 1:12-17.
2. Publish the vision.
Then the LORD answered me and said:
“Write the vision And make it plain on tables, That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.”
3 Plain Prophecy; make it simple to understand: God told Habakkuk to record this “question and answer” time for the benefit of others – that he may run who reads it. Habakkuk’s revelation was not just for himself, but also to strengthen others. Those who read are expected to be:
*Progressive- (may run), but they couldn’t make this progress if Habakkuk did not make it plain.
Habakkuk first had to see the vision. The preacher cannot make anyone else see what he does not see for himself. His plain prophecy are:
*Proclaiming
i. Habakkuk then had to make it known. The preacher must do what he can to make the word of God known, and make it known in as many ways as possible.
ii. Habakkuk had to make it known as permanently as possible – he was told to write the vision. The preacher must do what he can to make a permanent impact on his listeners.
* Passionate- to make people know the true nature of The GOD who called them, and what must come in a plain or simple way of speaking. V. 13-14
The LORD wanted that preaching, teaching and reminding, according as He instructed Habakkuk, should be plain to be easily understood. That He hates proud, and he will bring down the people whose souls are lifted up.
The people who give in to much wine; that after becoming drunk, he and his neighbor, he will see the naked body. These are among the lustful desires of mankind that GOD hates; what more of them that covet what is not belong to them? They are categorized as in companionship with the bloody conquerors of the cities which are not given to them to possess. v. 5-17
Punishment also shall fall upon the creator and worshippers of graven images; who The LORD said to Habakkuk are the teachers of lies; the deceiver of people.
The LORD is still in His Holy Temple; none is able to move Him; and for His Holiness and righteousness, all will bow down at will come to silence on that coming day.
As our salvation has made plain and simple by GOD, so let us all who are called, be not lifted up by pride, but in humility, speak plainly and live our lives simply, though The LORD pour on us His abounding grace; be it in wealth, in good health or in skills. So that the lost souls may see: we, the just shall live by faith in GOD.
“4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.”
It was written by Apostle Paul in Colossians 4:6 KJV “ Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.”
Let our praises be only to our Loving LORD and Savior Only. To Him be all honor and glory.
Good morning.
Habakkuk 2:1-20 KJV - I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.
2 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
5 Yea also, because he transgresseth by wine, he is a proud man, neither keepeth at home, who enlargeth his desire as hell, and is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and heapeth unto him all people: 6 Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Woe to him that increaseth that which is not his! how long? and to him that ladeth himself with thick clay!
7 Shall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite thee, and awake that shall vex thee, and thou shalt be for booties unto them?
8 Because thou hast spoiled many nations, all the remnant of the people shall spoil thee; because of men's blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein.
9 Woe to him that coveteth an evil covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil! 10 Thou hast consulted shame to thy house by cutting off many people, and hast sinned against thy soul.
11 For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it.
12 Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and stablisheth a city by iniquity!
13 Behold, is it not of the LORD of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity?
14 For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
15 Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!
16 Thou art filled with shame for glory: drink thou also, and let thy foreskin be uncovered: the cup of the LORD'S right hand shall be turned unto thee, and shameful spewing shall be on thy glory.
17 For the violence of Lebanon shall cover thee, and the spoil of beasts, which made them afraid, because of men's blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein.
18 What profiteth the graven image that the maker thereof hath graven it; the molten image, and a teacher of lies, that the maker of his work trusteth therein, to make dumb idols?
19 Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.
20 But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.
