August 23, 2023- Morning Bible Reading and Meditation- Zechariah 3KJV
(For Mitcah Devotional Bible Study Lesson#19 -Sin)
“8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.
9 For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.”
The Iniquity (Sin) and The BRANCH
“3Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.
4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.”
In this passage v3,4, the filthy garments which clothed Joshua the high priest was taken away according to the commandment of The Lord of hosts, who has spoken that He will bring forth His servant The BRANCH. For for the LORD to accept the service offering of the high priest, his garments must be according to the required high priest’s garments; pure and clean, without spot or blemish. And the high priest who come to offer before The LORD who are not compliant to the required purification, they will be stricken to death.
The BRANCH- matter of fact, the branch is the connector from the trunk and the roots; the carrier of water to the smaller branches, the leaves and the fruits. The branch can be a connecting rod, and completed the purpose. When The LORD JESUS said “I thirst” on the cross amazingly, they gave Him through the sponge soak with vinegar using a branch of hyssop. John 19;29KJV
Passages about hyssop in the Old Testament are connected to the blood of animal sacrifices. It represents God’s compassion on His people, how He is willing to reach down to save and heal us. Psalm 51 celebrates this, and shows the impact that this process can have on a person’s life.
In this Psalm 51KJV, King David mentioned in His prayer of repentance: 51 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
And biblically, the branch here pertains to The LORD JESUS: The BRANCH of GOD; The Mediator between GOD and man. Take note how the BRANCH here was written all in capital letter.
Filthy garment is a metaphorical representation of iniquity; and iniquity is sin; casted by the Devil.
What sin/devil can do, not only to the priest/priests but also to all believers of CHRIST:
The BRANCH is the ultimate remedy for our iniquity.
What the Bible says about Jesus Christ as the Branch
From Forerunner Commentary
The Branch mentioned here is a frequent symbol of Jesus Christ, who is of the God Family but also of the fruit of the earth, meaning He is both Godkind and humankind. Notice that only those chosen and rescued by God benefit from the enhanced production of fruit. Isaiah 11:1 explains the Branch more fully: “And there shall come forth a Rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots.” The Branch descends from the line of Jesse, the father of David. Jeremiah 23:5 and 33:15 both refer to “a Branch of righteousness” of Davidic lineage, and in Revelation 22:16 Jesus himself affirms, “I am the Root and the Offspring of David.” This was written in Hebrews 1KJV “1God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: 4 Being made so much better than he angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.”

We are so blessed because we have now the assurance that all our sins are paid full in the cross, and that nothing can separate us from the love of GOD through JESUS CHRIST our LORD. Romans 8:35-39. But let not this privilege of becoming justified permits us to continue sinning; for if well sin willfully, no more sacrifice can be offered to pardon us again.Hebrews 10:26KJV We have to face the consequence in this life. And when this life be taken from us by The LORD, we shall also face Him with shame.
So may we can, let us stop from sinning, and submit ourselves daily to The BRANCH who already cleansed us, and is able to help us scape sinning.1 Cor. 10:13KJV
Good morning.
Zechariah 3KJV
3 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.
2 And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?
3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.
4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.
5 And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. Sothey set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the Lord stood by.
6 And the angel of the Lord protested unto Joshua, saying,
7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.
8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.
9 For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.
10 In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbour under the vine and under the fig tree.
