Lesson #23 The WORD

1The burden of the word of the Lord in the land of Hadrach, and Damascus shall be the rest thereof: when the eyes of man, as of all the tribes of Israel, shall be toward the Lord.

Words to ponder:

The Burden of The Word of The

LORD

A heaviness; a yoke has to be laid up in the land of Hadrach, and “Damascus shall be the rest thereof: when the eyes of man, as of all the tribes of Israel, shall be toward the LORD.

Damascus will be a rest, when the eyes of man, (as the eyes of Saul, who was stricken blind by the LORD, on their encounter, while he is trying to persecute early age Christians, that after his conversion, fierce pursue were lessen a bit), as of all the tribe of Israel, shall be toward the Lord.

Yet there is another question that keeps prodding in my mind: “the burden of the word of the Lord..”

Is the word capable to be burdened? Or this word speaks of something else? Such as; this may refer to a specific entity or a bodily organ which is able to carry about or bring about this burden?

And yes! It speaks according to the following verses: v.2-6

And in v7 it personified by this possessive statement from The LORD.

“7 And I will take away his blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth: but he that remaineth, even he, shall be for our God, and he shall be as a governor in Judah, and Ekron as a Jebusite.

And I will encamp about mine house because of the army, because of him that passeth by, and because of him that returneth: and no oppressor shall pass through them any more: for now have I seen with mine eyes.”

There has been a great transformation in these places during the time of the Apostles; where a certain great man in Joppa named Cornelius was converted.

And yes, it is connected to the following verse that culminates the details:

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.”

Just as our lesson last Tuesday which we give emphasis on “the vine”, now it is the word which is burdened here in the land of Hadrach.

And thus concluded the meaning of this phrase:The One who speaks here is burdened by the sinful ways of the lands mentioned here: HadrachHamath, Tyrus and Sidon. V.2,3.

The same was mentioned in Micah 4:2 KJV 2 “And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

Word: something that is said; information, declaration

Word was there in the beginning of Creation.

Word was spoken by God in creation. Genesis 1:3KJV “And God said, Let there be light; and there was light.’

Word was given as GOD’s instruction for His people. Exodus 20:1,2 KJV

WORD is the title given by John in his gospel to The LORD JESUS CHRIST our Savior.

John 1KJV

“1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The same was in the beginning with God.

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

God uses words for these purposes:

• To create all things Genesis 1:3-26 KJV
• To communicate to humankind; Genesis 1:28,29 KJV
• To command all things even nature Mark 4:39KJV And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

.

Word, give rest to the wanderer of this world who seek refuge from GOD.

Word make a way to reach out the erring souls.

Word win the lost for CHRIST.

We see how important the word is in our existence. We, all human, believers of CHRIST or non-believers, weall acknowledge the essence and importance ofcommunication through spoken words; whether it is written or verbally spoken, word is the only way we can relay our message, even for others to know our ideas, thoughts, our desires; or just simply to hear the good or bad news.

The word also has power, whether to break or make a person. As we therefore are called the children of truth, let the words of our mouth and the meditation of our heart be well pleasing and acceptable to GOD our Creator, and for us believers our Holy Loving Father.

It was written in Psalms 19KJV 14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.

Paul also admonish us in Colossians 4 KJV

Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man

Ephesians 4KJV

Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

What comes out of our mouth comes from our hearts and our thoughts. Let us therefore use the word to edify others and give glory to The Name of our LORD.
Let our words be an instrument for each one to have a pleasant day ahead.

Good morning.

Zechariah 9KJV

1The burden of the word of the Lord in the land of Hadrach, and Damascus shall be the rest thereof: when the eyes of man, as of all the tribes of Israel, shall be toward the Lord.

And Hamath also shall border thereby; Tyrus, and Zidon, though it be very wise.

And Tyrus did build herself a strong hold, and heaped up silver as the dust, and fine gold as the mire of the streets.

Behold, the Lord will cast her out, and he will smite her power in the sea; and she shall be devoured with fire.

Ashkelon shall see it, and fear; Gaza also shall see it, and be very sorrowful, and Ekron; for her expectation shall be ashamed; and the king shall perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited.

And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.

And I will take away his blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth: but he that remaineth, even he, shall be for our God, and he shall be as a governor in Judah, and Ekron as a Jebusite.

And I will encamp about mine house because of the army, because of him that passeth by, and because of him that returneth: and no oppressor shall pass through them any more: for now have I seen with mine eyes.

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

10 And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace unto the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth.

11 As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water.

12 Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even to day do I declare that I will render double unto thee;

13 When I have bent Judah for me, filled the bow with Ephraim, and raised up thy sons, O Zion, against thy sons, O Greece, and made thee as the sword of a mighty man.

14 And the Lord shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the Lord God shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south.

15 The Lord of hosts shall defend them; and they shall devour, and subdue with sling stones; and they shall drink, and make a noise as through wine; and they shall be filled like bowls, and as the corners of the altar.

16 And the Lord their God shall save them in that day as the flock of his people: for they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up as an ensign upon his land.

17 For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! corn shall make the young men cheerful, and new wine the maids.
