Lesson: Search the Scriptures; for Eternal Life

“[24] Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that hearethmy word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

[39] Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. “

How good and gracious our GOD is! For He made all things available and possible for us; the availability of the Scriptures and the possibility of Eternal Life, for all to learn, for all to live and for all to leverage.

All should take advantage of this great grace He has given to us. no need to go through another human being’s help or assistance.

There are no excuses; what we only need is to hear, listen, believe and take heed. Unlike what the certain man with infirmities believed in v.5; that he needed someone to help him to dip to the pool of Bethesda ahead of the others that he might be healed.

GOD indeed made everything available for us, that what we need is the will to change our mind, the will to combat our false belief, and the will to cleave to the faith which JESUS, GOD’s Only Son teaches for each one of us to be healed.

And for all of us to do these three things, we need to:

• be determined to own and read the Scriptures: which is GOD’s words,
• be decided to wholeheartedly believe what is written therein,
• be deliberately conformable to live according to the things commanded therein.
• be dead unto old sinful ways, belief and habit.
be determined to be engage in the LORD’s ministries as soon as we joined the church of Christ

The red letters written words spoken by The Son of GOD JESUS CHRIST; firmly claiming He is. Proved that people unbelief found every way possible to reject Him. He also has foreknown that the enemy will caused many to take His words as lightly as they can, that even those professing faithful in their belief, will cling to the religion where they have been born and opened their eyes onto, regardless if it is the truth or not.People usually take religion as just a part of their existential ground. The very reason and purpose why The Son of GOD JESUS build His church and gave the commandment to preach and teach about His saving grace.

These two instances from this chapter 5 from the book of John directly conveying to us imperative truth, such as:

1. JESUS as the Son of GOD is not bounded by any law even the law of Moses. He, in His own will, healed the man with infirmities and commanded to take up his bed and walk; which carrying of anything or walking with some load are forbidden during Sabbath days. The reason for the Jews to seek to kill JESUS. They honored and valued more the law of Moses than to be in awe of the marvelous things His has done.  V.1-15
• Being GOD’s Son, His Miraculous Works will never be impeded by the law of man.
• Being GOD’s Son, His Mindfulness overruled mankind; yet He will never allowed to be overpowered by the threatening hatred of the crowd, while it’s not yet His given time.
2. JESUS as the Son of GOD has never been intimidated to tell the truth even to His adversaries. He has spoken to them the truth about who He is; plain, simple and direct about Him being the Beloved Son of God the Father; of Whom no human being is able to look upon nor see, to whosoever have come to question His identity. He even challenged them to search the Scriptures to see that it was written to testify about Him. V.16-47
• Being GOD’s Son, He Masterfully Witnessedto the crowd who He is and what are the things that people should do for Him and whatare the things He The Father has for Him and the things committed unto Him; such are the following:
➢ V20,21 The Father loves Him and shows all things that He did that He too can do. Raising the dead, that Son is able to do also.
➢ V.23-25 He requires all men to honourHim as they give honour unto the Father. And that all should hear and believe His words for all to have everlasting, eternal life with GOD: with Him.
➢ V. 25-29That to Him was given the authority to execute judgement; that to all who died will hear His words of judgement. To them who live right unto eternal life, but them who err, unto eternal condemnation.
➢ V.32-35The Testimony of John the Baptist about Him is the truth.
➢ V.37The Testimony of GOD about Him was given to His people, supposing for them to share good news about Him.
➢ V.38-42He knew who have the word of The Father and He knew who has it within them.
➢ V. 39,43-47 The Old Testament Scriptures, even Moses wrote about Him.

The words of JESUS CHRIST were given to His disciples for them to preach and teach all living souls. but only to those who will receive and believe will be added to His body through His local church.

Matthew 16: 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Acts 2:”38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

These happened in the early church in Jerusalem.

Now what The LORD commanded us through the written words of Apostle Paul 1Corinthians 16 KJV

16 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.

2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.”

And in Hebrews 10KJV

20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

21 And having an high priest over the house of God;

22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Let our searching of the Scriptures be according to what The LORD commanded for us from His words and through His called apostles.

Let our life be a shining light that guides them who are yet walking in the darkness of their own invented spiritual world, and change them to know CHRIST JESUS: who really is the life, the way and the truth.

Good morning.

John 5:1-47 KJV

After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. [2] Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. [3] In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. [4] For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. [5] And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. [6] When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? [7] The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. [8] Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. [9] And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath. [10] The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed. [11] He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk. [12] Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk? [13] And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place. [14] Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. [15] The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole. [16] And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day. [17] But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. [18] Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God. [19] Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. [20] For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel. [21] For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. [22] For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: [23] That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. [24] Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. [25] Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. [26] For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; [27] And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. [28] Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, [29] And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. [30] I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. [31] If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true. [32] There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true. [33] Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth. [34] But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved. [35] He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light. [36] But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me. [37] And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. [38] And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not. [39] Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. [40] And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. [41] I receive not honour from men. [42] But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you. [43] I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. [44] How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only? [45] Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust. [46] For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. [47] But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
