August 16, 2017-Wednesday-# 449 Daily Morning Bible Reading and Meditation-Job 34 KJV
***Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom.***
[1] Furthermore Elihu answered and said,
[2] Hear my words, O ye wise men ; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge.
[3] For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat.
[4] Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good.
[5] For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment.
[6] Should I lie against my right? my wound is incurable without transgression.
[7] What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water?
[8] Which goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men.
[9] For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.
[35] Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom.
[36] My desire is that Job may be tried unto the end because of his answers for wicked men.
[37] For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God.
Words to ponder for today:
Spoken Without Knowledge
I felt the need to be cautious in my words, for in my own point of view, Elihu's answer is obtrusive and blatant in his way of speaking to Job. He even charge Job to be speaking without knowledge and his words are without wisdom in v.35.
I have to copy and paste here the reference I usually read, when I am overwhelmed and astonished, so that,I may expressed my own understanding not according to my own opinion, but in accordance to some commentaries, such as of well known preacher commentator, a Baptist Pastor from whom I took these comments below:
John Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible
What man is like Job,.... This is said as wondering at the part he acted, that a man so wise and good as Job was esteemed to be should behave in such a manner as he did;
who drinketh up scorning like water? For a foolish and wicked man to do so is not strange nor uncommon; but for a man of such sense and grace as Job was to do this was astonishing; to have no more regard to his character than to expose himself to the scorn and ridicule of men: for a man to become a laughing stock to profane and wicked men for his religion and piety, it is no disgrace, but an honour to him; but by unbecoming words and gestures to make himself justly jeered and scoffed at is great indiscretion. Or it may be understood actively of his dealing very freely and frequently in scoffs and jeers, which he poured out very liberally and plentifully, and seemingly with as much delight as a man drinks water when thirsty; see Job 11:3.
Job hath spoken without knowledge-
Not that Job was an ignorant man, either in things natural or divine; but in this point, about the chastening hand of God upon him, he had said some things which betrayed lack of knowledge;
-and his words [were] without wisdom;
Job was not destitute of human wisdom, nor of spiritual wisdom, but no man is wise at all times; some things had dropped from him which savoured of folly and ignorance, and which he afterwards was convinced of, and confessed with shame; being charged by the Lord himself with what he is here by Elihu, ( Job 38:2 ) ; and it may be observed, that Elihu does not charge Job with being a wicked man, as his three friends did, but as having spoken unadvisedly with lips, under his chastening circumstances, and which he labours to convince him of.
That he may be further tried by God, or exercised with afflictions, till he be thoroughly convinced or humbled. But it seems harsh that he should pray for the continuance or increase of Job’s afflictions

When in times of trials and excruciating pain and affliction, even the most honorable and prudent person might become as Job in his manner of bewailing. For no man is yet desensitized in the feelings of infirmities, who will not wail nor grieve when experiencing tumultuous tragedies and physical pain.
Yet, as a friend, as i have read the book of Job and have a bit understanding of the foregoings, I have seen here that, it will not consoled nor give comfort, if we are to take heed more on the words spoken, than understanding why a suffering friends uttered an extreme complaining.
If we wholeheartedly do believe that our GOD is alive, sees hears and listen, what a friend should do is to remind him of the sufferings of the sinless and righteous Lord Jesus Christ on the cross of calvary; for his obedience to the will of His Father GOD, which is GOD's Sovereign will, and wondrous acts of love towards mankind.
That, when GOD had turn away His eyes on His Only Begotten Son, but imputing the sins of all, through His sufferings even His death on the cross; it is because of His Sovereign purpose of making a way for us who ACCEPT in humility our sinfulness, BELIEVE that JESUS CHRIST is The Savior, and CALL upon GOD in JESUS CHRIST's Name, that we may obtain salvation.
We, in our present time get a bit of understanding through reading this book; but Job and his friends were not aware nor haven't read from any book about GOD's sovereign plan.
The sufferings Job has gone through is an amazement that caught them by surprise. And their only basis in their arguments was the teachings they have intently and festively heard from the precepts they have in their chosen fellowships; who seems to be constantly learning and attentively hearing their priests' preachings and teachings.
I then, as I realized, found myself in admiration towards these men including Job, who have understanding about the knowledge of GOD and tried their very best to honor Him in action and their words, even through their disputations.
We are more blessed than them. For we can learn that sufferings, trials and testings, are a given to strengthen our faith in GOD through reading the bible.
Let our words be not spoken without knowledge.
Let us then take heed more in studying GOD's words, that we may obtain and have within us righteous judgement.
It is what Apostle Paul has written to the young preacher Timothy: 2 Timothy 2:15-16 KJV
[15] Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. [16] But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
The same was was also written by Apostle Peter:
1 Peter 3:15-16 KJV
[15] But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: [16] Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
May our LORD GOD be glorify in our lives.
Good morning!
Job 34:1-37 KJV
[1] Furthermore Elihu answered and said, [2] Hear my words, O ye wise men ; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge. [10] Therefore hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity. [11] For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways. [12] Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment. [13] Who hath given him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world? [14] If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath; [15] All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust. [16] If now thou hast understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words. [17] Shall even he that hateth right govern? and wilt thou condemn him that is most just? [18] Is it fit to say to a king, Thou art wicked? and to princes, Ye are ungodly? [19] How much less to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands. [20] In a moment shall they die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and pass away: and the mighty shall be taken away without hand. [21] For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings. [22] There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves. [23] For he will not lay upon man more than right ; that he should enter into judgment with God. [24] He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead. [25] Therefore he knoweth their works, and he overturneth them in the night, so that they are destroyed. [26] He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others; [27] Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways: [28] So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted. [29] When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only: [30] That the hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared. [31] Surely it is meet to be said unto God, I have borne chastisement , I will not offend any more : [32] That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more. [33] Should it be according to thy mind? he will recompense it, whether thou refuse, or whether thou choose; and not I: therefore speak what thou knowest. [34] Let men of understanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken unto me. [35] Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom. [36] My desire is that Job may be tried unto the end because of his answers for wicked men. [37] For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God.
