October 5, 2017-Thursday-#499 Daily Morning Bible Reading and Meditation-Psalm 42 KJV
***I will say unto GOD my Rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?***
[1] As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
[2] My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
[3] My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?
[4] When I remember these things , I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.
[7] Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.
[8] Yet the Lord will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.
[9] I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
Words to ponder for today:
My GOD, Why Hast Thou Forgotten me?
" As the deer panted for the water so my soul longed after You.
You alone are my heart's desires and I long to worship you"
This song of our days is taken from this psalm which is familiar to all, because it is sang in most Christian Churches gatherings even in the Catholic mass ceremonies.
Some commentators said, this psalm was written 200 years before The LORD JESUS was born. Might be by a Levites who regularly enter into the temple before to do his service for GOD; but was taken into captivity away and deserted.
This was the time when GOD had forsaken Israel and allowed their enemies to take His people into slavery. There, they were not allowed to worship their GOD. They longed for to worship their GOD in their holy temple; the temple which was built to be called the House of GOD.
During the time when GOD's people are in captivity, there they remember their GOD. They remember His goodness and His lovingkindness unto them. They remember the song of praises, their joy of freely singing worship songs and serving GOD all the day long. But in captivity, their enemy laugh at them to scorn; saying, "where is your GOD? call Him that He may save you!"
We may not be in the same situation the psalmist herein have been through. But we sometimes found ourselves captives by the ideologies and ideas we are molded by, which often caught us up in between distress and pressures. We cannot comprehend the longings we felt deep inside. We look at it as something that can be filled up by what we have gotten from what we desires for. We often seek the answer to be happy by our achievements, as well as getting into a relationship; blindly depending self satisfaction and fulfillment with the person who are also empty and needed to be filled within by the true joy that Only comes from the Giver of life, whom is always taken for granted, if not unknown or unwanted to be known.
When in the point of lowliness and helplessness, then that is only time when we try to connect ourselves to call our Maker. Some of us humbly and meekly accepted our depravity; some continue to adhere to their own self belief; trying to remake GOD according to their wanting and compare The True GOD to some man made ideas and created pagan doctrines. Then the question of " My God, why you have forgotten me?"will repeatedly asked if The Good LORD is silent, cannot be found, nor He answer prayers.
Listen people: GOD is GOD according to His set standard and according to His words written in the holy bible. He will not respect a person. He will not lower down Himself and obey us according to our wish. But if we will show ourself to HIM meekly and humbly submitting ourselves to His commandments, His hand shall move according to his tender mercy and loving kindness.
Our LORD JESUS CHRIST have spoken:
Matthew 7:21-23 KJV
[21] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
[22] Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
[23] And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Idols is paganism. Changing Him and making a graven image of Him is idolatry which is abomination to HIM. His wrath is poured out if we neglect to honor His words.
This is why Apostle Paul has written this for our understanding:
Romans 1:18-25 KJV
[18] For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
[19] Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. [20] For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
[21] Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
[22] Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
[23] And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
[24] Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
[25] Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
It didn't matter to GOD if you are good or doers of good works. What matter to Him is your obedience to His words.
He is a Spirit. And we should worship Him in Spirit and in truth.
Pray now;
Admitting your idolatrous sinful way of worshipping Him.
Believing that GOD's Son JESUS CHRIST is The Only Way The Truth and The Life.
Calling and Casting your cares upon GOD's Only Begotten Son JESUS CHRIST, The LORD and Savior, and the Lover of our soul.
Depart from evil through the Help of The HOLY SPIRIT of GOD.
Enter into GOD's peace and rest for your soul!
Faith is the victory and the joy some long for.
GOD shall surely comfort you and answer you when you ask upon Him saying " My GOD, why hast thou forgotten me?"
