January 15, 2018- Monday-#590-Daily Bible Reading and Meditation - Psalm 133 KJV
***Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!***
[1] Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
[2] It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
[3] As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.
Words to ponder for today:
To Dwell Together In Unity
Unity
a : a condition of harmony : accord
b : continuity without deviation or change (as in purpose or action)
Antonyms: asymmetry, discordance, disproportion, disunity, imbalance, incoherence, violence
This Psalm of three verses, when repeatedly read, inculcates within the blessedness of being united.
One cannot be united alone. There should be others to commence unity. For a person to know the importance and privilege of unity, he or she should learn it at an early age first from home. Parents should be one in goal of raising up their children. If they raise their children with love and teach them the importance of sharing and selflessness, they will grow up with self confidence, seeking peace and striving for harmony. They shall then became the catalyst promoting unity in the church, and in the school.
If discordance, disunity and violence are the normal scenario at the house, the children are most likely to be the inciter of troubles.
This Psalm says: how good and how pleasant it is to dwell together in unity! The Psalmist use exclamatory point to give emphasis the joy he has within him, seeing that his children, his brethren dwelling together in unity and not in discordance. For godly unity attracts blessings and favor from The LORD. Godly unity I say, because there are also people who are united to sow discord and division. But the brethren who strive diligently in one accord to please their Master Whom is The LORD, and work together for godly cause, shall be a pleasant sight to others, promoting that which is good.
Unity is also the context in this part of Apostle Paul’s Epistle:
Romans 12:9-21 KJV
[9] Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
[10] Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
[11] Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
[12] Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
[13] Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.
[14] Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
[15] Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
[16] Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
[17] Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
[18] If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
[19] Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
[20] Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
[21] Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
We can not teach others the true meaning of love if we did not learn to love our unloving or unlovely brothers and sisters. We cannot be an example of unity if we are divided and discorded.
This teaching about Agape love which is the heart of unity, was penned by Apostle Paul for us all believers. That we should learn it,and put it into practice, should live by, and be the guidelines of our attitude, should love it, and be the true Ambassador of Christ.
Let there be love shared among us,
Let there be love in our eyes;
May now Your love sweep this nation,
Cause us, O Lord, to arise.
Give us a fresh understanding
Of brotherly love that is real;
Let there be love shared among us,
Let there be love.
Have a blessed lovely day ahead!
