Morning Bible Reading and Meditation Matthew 3KJV
Mithcah Bible Baptist Church Morning Devotional Bible Study
Topic: Prepare Ye The Way of The LORD
1 In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,
2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
3 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
“Isaiah 40:3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.”
Before the LORD JESUS CHRIST had shew himself up and started His ministries, John the Baptist comes ahead of Him preaching about repentance and baptizing the people of Israel for the remission of sin.
Baptism that time then is essential for the forgiveness of sin, as well as in this age, a part of salvation; and seemingly, an entrance too, to prove their faith; to be among the group who awaits, excited and believe in the coming of GOD their The Messiah; of whom John the Baptist is preaching that He already is at hand.
People in every walk of life came to him to be baptized of Him. Many Sadducees and Pharisees also came to be baptized; received harsh rebuke, which some of us knew already, took in their heart the sincerity of repentance; for we knew some of them have been the secret follower of The LORD; to name one among them probably is Nicodemus.
Repent ye; for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand. Prepare ye the way of the LORD. This is what John the Baptist is preaching.
The Kingdom of heaven indeed have come down to earth more than two thousand years ago. This was written all over; starting from the teachings and preaching of The LORD and His apostles in the New Testament; the book of the new covenant which the LORD has spoken and promised through the mouth of His prophet.
Matthew 26KJV
“28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”
Jeremiah 31KJV
“31 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord:”
These all were hidden from The LORD’s first twelve apostles; because what they only knew was that The LORD has come to redeem His people from the bondage of Roman empire; and He has come to build His Kingdom and rule over all the house of Israel.
Should the people of Israel have accepted the LORD as the Messiah and King, absolutely, He will; and it will be different in this our present time.
Nevertheless, while we are still here in this present age of grace, we can get some inspiration from this chapter that we can apply in our Christian way of living;
The LORD JESUS CHRIST has spoken with promise these words to His disciples before His crucifixion; John 14KJV
“15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”
The Promise we have and we’re holding now according to Apostle Paul: Romans 8KJV
“ 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
We do not need to prepare the way of The LORD, For The LORD Himself already paved the way.
What we need to do is to always be prepared to meet The LORD anytime, everywhere.
Good morning.
Matthew 3KJV
1 In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,
2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
3 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
4 And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.
5 Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,
6 And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.
7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:
9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
12 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
