“Luke 2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.”
Words to ponder: First Born Son
The message is clear.
“Mary gave birth to her first-born son.
Wrapped him in a swaddling clothe and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”
But this will not be known if there had not been witnesses to spread this glad tiding.
Luke knew the certainty of these news because there are messengers who specifically proclaim this good news to him.
These witnesses have testified GOD’s amazing grace to be written for us to know the importance of name:
• The words of the angel of The LORD to the shepherds are specific and certain. Luke 2:8-14
• The shepherds who take heed to what the angel told them did not hesitate to see, and afterwards spread the glad tidings. Luke 2:15-17
• The testimony of Simeon the just and devout man, to whom the promise of God is given; was led by the Holy Ghost to the temple; when the baby Jesus is about to be present to The LORD, and offer there a sacrifice, that he took the baby Jesus in his arms and give thanks to GOD; because he had seen GOD’s promised salvation, the which GOD has promised that he will not die without seeing the Savior. “ A light to lighten the Gentiles and the rise and falling of many even the glory of the people of Israel.” He even told Mary what pain she has to suffer: “(yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul.” Luke 2:22-35
• The giving of thanks of the prophetess Ana in the temple after seeing the baby Jesus: the much awaited Redeemer of Israel has come. v. 36-38
• The doctors in the temple who talked and asked questions with the twelve years old Jesus; who came with his parents to observe the feast of the passover, stayed in the temple, when he is about to go back with them to Nazareth. (Presumably, Luke was one of the doctors) v.41-47
• The child Jesus’ answer to his worrying mother, who went back with her husband Joseph to Jerusalem to seek for her missing child. “Luke 2:48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.Luke 2:49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?”
• The witness of his mother Mary as she observed how the child grow: increase in wisdom and stature, and in favor of GOD and man. v. 50,52
These eye witnesses about the birth of Mary’s first-born son and the growing of the child Jesus who now is The Savior of the world are inspired. And they were mentioned here not only for our knowledge and understanding, but that we may believe and be a witness to others as well.
Words confidently spoken have power to transform each belief into faith on The LORD JESUS CHRIST.
Converting the hard-hearted person to become a child-like in faith, yet just and devout man, and can be equal to those doctors in wisdom and understanding.
What we need to do, ponder and realize:
Have faith in CHRIST.
We are not saved for nothing, but to be a testifier of GOD’s grace.
Therefore, we must fear GOD and be wise.
The HOLY SPIRIT guides, saves and lead all throughout ages.
