As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

Lesson: Prepare ye The Way of The LORD, make His path Straight.

The first coming of the LORD has been prophesied by the Hebrew Prophet Isaiah: one among the distinctive major prophets of the old testament, who was born in Jerusalem, 700 year earlier, from the time of the earthly life of The LORD JESUS CHRIST. He prophesied these words after he saw a vision in the death of King Uzziah. 2 Chronicles 26.

Written in his book are these:

Isaiah 40KJV

“1 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.

Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the Lord's hand double for all her sins.

The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepareye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:

And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

• Prophesied in the old testament by Prophet Isaiah
• Proclaimed in the New Testament by John the Baptist
• Preached also by John, and in the early church; and still being preached by pastors and evangelists.
• Pondered by all bible believing Christians throughout all ages.

“Prepare ye the way of The and LORD and make His path straight.”

Prepared also herein are the distinctive people as among the ways prepared by The LORD; aside from John the Baptist being the preacher of preparing people for The LORDof whom is the sacrificial Lamb, who is about to be known to all the people.

1. Priest Zacharias- John the Baptist’s father. V. 2
2. The Tetrarchs- (Herodes-Judea, Philip his brother-Iturea and of the region of TrachonitisLysanias- tetrarch of Abilene,Annas and Caiaphas- the High Priests .v 1,2
3. Pontius Pilate- the governor of Judea. V.1

In the time John the Baptist is preaching, his father and mother were never mentioned anymore, but only him,written to all four gospel in the book of Matthew 3:1-4, Mark 1:3,4, John 1:8-8, while the tetrarch Herod and Philip’s issues with the wife Herodias of the later, had been the cause of the demise of John the Baptist, as well as Pontius Pilate: who then will wash his hand; excusing himself and will give the judgement of executing the crucifixion of The LORD: The Lamb of GOD; in the authority of King Herod the tetrarch, whose hands is also responsible for the beheading ofJohn the Baptist.

Here in earth their names will always be mentioned in the preaching or even in sayings; and in the great white throne judgement, they will be among them who will receive the same judgement, recompensing their doingsfor eternity in hell.

The Names which are written will always be there. It will never change; from the teaching of John the Baptist and the way of salvation he has taught to the people of Israel, which is baptism plus good works in v.7-14, the baptism by John the Baptist of JESUS before He start His earthly ministry, v.21,22, afterwards John’s imprisonment,v.19,20, even those genealogies from verse 23-38, tracing the humanity of Joseph: the supposed earthly father of The LORD, will remain forever.

The book of Luke is written, highlighting the humanity of The LORD JESUS CHRIST.

His life here on earth was the opposite from His existence in heaven. Yet what was being prophesied, proclaimed, preached and pondered are for our understanding; for the completeness of our faith; to whom and by whom we are all told to be prepared for the great commission He has given according to our calling.

We are most assured that our name is written in the book of life. Though there are times we may fail our LORD in obeying His words because of those people who are also prepared to test our faith, to try our strength and to tempt our resiliencies. There may be some stumbling blocks or those who makes our burdens heavier, that may make our progress in faith slow if not hindered us to keep on goingbut let us always be reminded that The LORD’s way is alreadythere and had been prepared.

We may sometimes get tired as we keep on pressing forward every day. We may rest for a while,particularly when our own strength is not enough to go through the storm of hardship and oddities in life.

When in this situation, let us keep in our mind we never can make it without the help of our LORD. And just like John, we have also our time, our ending may also be like him or different. But if we are confident that it is The LORD’S will, then we also must be prepared. Much more, we must always keep in mind what The LORD had been through during His life as human; and that He sets Himself for us examples, even those faithful bible characters, who suffered for righteousness; even them who suffered for the gospel’s sake.  Nevertheless, as The LORD has been victorious over death, and now He live, let us hold on to His promise: that in whatever situation we are in He will help us get through difficulties of life, much more to all those things that challengeour faith. We must take heed to stand firm; so that the thing that was prophesied, we will be able to proclaim, preach and keep on pondering.

As what it was written by Apostle Paul in Philippians 1KJV

 3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,

Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,

For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:”

The LORD will uphold us; He, who has began a good work in us until His day come. Those hardships, difficulties and accusation of the devil should never cause us to be totally bug down.

Let us also be comforted by these words:

Hebrews 12KJV

1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Let us be among those who keeps on preparing the way of the LORD; in continuing to share His words, and in our remaining days here on earth let us keep ourselves to be in subjection to His will.

Always choose God’s way and seek Him first in prayers to brightens up our day. Good morning.

Luke 3

King James Version

Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene,

Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.

And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;

As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;

And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

10 And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?

11 He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.

12 Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do?

13 And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you.

14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Doviolence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.

15 And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not;

16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:

17 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.

18 And many other things in his exhortation preached he unto the people.

19 But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother Philip's wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done,

20 Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.

21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,

22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,

24 Which was the son of Matthat, which was the son of Levi, which was the son of Melchi, which was the son of Janna, which was the son of Joseph,
