40 Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.

41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.

Lesson: Thou art Christ The Son of GOD

“1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.”

In Jesus’ humanity, though full of The Holy Ghost yet still in the flesh.

He was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, suffered hunger really great.

It’s the Spirit intention to lead Him in that place, where there’s no food to eat,

The wiles of the devil is persistent, that even the Son of GOD he tried to tempt.

Forty days is such long days for us human-being to wait.

We can imagine how it is to be hungered, when for a day there’s no food to eat.

We complain and ask GOD, even lost our hope and faith,

And we will do almost everything, just to have even a piece of meat.

Isn’t hardship is given to all human beings to strengthen our trust in The LORD?

So that we will learn to call Him in prayers, and for that He will bless our works,

For the LORD set us an example that we should be strengthen by His grace,

So that when facing trials and hardship, we will be an overcomer, cause in Him we put our faith.

So, when facing difficulties and hardships, know that the devil is persistent to tempt.

Hold on tight and clear our mind, Trust the LORD for He is mighty to save!

There are about eight times the devil/devils were mentioned in this chapter, not included Satan and unclean spirit. Let’s take a look on these Four things the devil did in this chapter we should ponder:

• The devil knew who JESUS is, yet during His weakened human flesh because of hunger from physical food, the devil tried his best for The Son of GOD to be tempted-  provoking The Lord to use His power to make bread out of stone, to take back The LORD’s possession (the world) which was delivered to him, in exchange, the Son of God will worship him, and to show off The LORD’S position as the beloved, only Begotten Son of GOD, by throwing himself down from the pinnacle of the temple. V.1-13
• The devil blinded the heart and mind of the people of Nazareth where The LORD the Christ was raised; that despite of His fame and powerful preaching and teaching, they refused to believe His words; disappointed because of the poverty status in life of the parents who raised Him up; that they attempted to kill Him,  thrusting him out unto the brow or edge of the hill for the intention of throwing Him down headlong v.14-31
• The devil knew that The Christ is the Son of GOD, and He is the one to judge him and his angels, that just by His words, it is tormenting for them; that they can’t do anything to compete with Him. For His words are already punishment for them; and because of the word of The LORD commanding them to leave, they immediately left trembling the body they possessed. V.33-41
• The devil was so desperate that He wanted to abort the plan of GOD to save mankind from the penalty of sin in hell through emotional attachment: (that people begged The LORD to stay with them- emotional attachment or excessive compassion can be use by the devil).  The devil will use every means to stop people from getting saved, so that there will be many more to come with him in that place of torment, where he, and his cohorts aredestined to suffer for eternity. V.42-44

But the CHRIST, the Son of GOD knew His Father’s plan, His purpose of coming to earth, and the power which was bestowed upon Him, that He has to give to all who will accept Him, believe in Him and call upon His Name.

Through this chapter, we should be familiar, that we may learn to recognize these three things from whichthe LORD, in His human form was tempted by the devil:

1. To use His POWER to fill His hunger. - This is lust of the flesh. v.3,4 2.
2. To claim POSSESSION for the things that He has created. - This is the lust of the eyes. V.5-8.
3. To prove His POSITION in the earth and Heavenly Kingdom. - This is the pride of life. v9-12 But the LORD of Glory, the Only Begotten of The Father stand firm.

Jesus Christ is the Son of GOD: The LORD who does not have to prove to anybody His power, His possession nor His position, because He has the full understanding of who He is. His nature did not change nor diminished even in that grievous moment when all of those things were stripped off from Him;when the devil succeeded to use those people, who caused His sufferings; carrying His cross while His whole body was deeply wounded unto His shameful death. Because He knew His purpose, His place and His power that He will then overcome death by rising again from that three days and three nights in the tomb.

Let this be a reminder for us who are going through a lot of sufferings and heartaches: we should know our place in this earth much more in heaven, our very purpose of living here in this earth, even our power as an overcomer among the children of GOD. and that is because we are the subject of the devil’s persistent tempting; for we do not only know but we have in our heart CHRIST; The Son of The Living GOD.

It is okay to be tempted, buwe must train our mind not to yield to temptation: though sometimes we may fail, still we should keep within our thoughts the faith of The LORD, that through and by the power of His name we must resist. For our LORD already have won the victory that we should not dwell on the thought we have been, we are or we will be defeated.

It was written: James 4 KJV “7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Let this be always in our mind:

Philippians 2 KJV

“ 3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Good morning.

Luke 4

King James Version

And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.

And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:

10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:

11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.

16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?

23 And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.

24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.

25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;

26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.

27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseusthe prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.

28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,

29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.

30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way,

31 And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.

32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

33 And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,

34 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.

35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.

36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.

37 And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.

38 And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.

39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.

42 And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.

43 And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.

44 And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.
