Acts 1:1,2,3,7,8 KJV
“[1]The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
[2] Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
[3] To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
[7] And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
[8] But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

“Acts of the Apostles: fifth book of the New Testament, a valuable history of the early Christian church. Acts was written in Greek, presumably by St. Luke the Evangelist.
The Gospel According to Luke concludes where Acts begins, namely, with Christ’s Ascension into heaven. Acts was apparently written in Rome, perhaps between 70 and 90 CE, though some think a slightly earlier date is also possible.
After an introductory account of the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles at Pentecost (interpreted as the birth of the church), Luke pursues as a central theme, the spread of Christianity from Jerusalem to the Gentile world under the guiding inspiration of the Holy Spirit. He also describes the church’s gradual drawing away from Jewish traditions. The conversion of St. Paul and his subsequent missionary journeys are given a prominent place because this close associate of Luke was the preeminent Apostle to the Gentiles. Without Acts, a picture of the primitive church would be impossible to reconstruct; with it, the New Testament letters of St. Paul are far more intelligible. Acts concludes rather abruptly, after Paul has successfully preached the gospel in Rome, then the acknowledged centre of the Gentile world.”
Some scholars referred the book of Acts as Transitionary Book; wherein from the twelve Apostles commanded to remain assembled in Jerusalem until the day of Pentecost, when they were so empowered by the HOLY GHOST, that they boldly preached; heard by both Jews and Greek. Then the LORD called a special apostle to preach specifically to the Gentiles: The Apostle Paul.
“[8] But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
This was commanded by the LORD to His remaining eleven apostles with some of the disciples who have seen the resurrected LORD JESUS; who commanded them to be a WITNESS unto Him. Presumably, Luke was one among them.
A. They were, even all believers, are called to be The LORD JESUS’ witnesses:
1. About GOD the Father.
2. About JESUS as the Son of GOD and His Godhead
3. About His Humanity
4. About the sublime purpose of His death burial and resurrection
5. About the HOLY SPIRIT’s works in the LORD’s earthly ministry.
6. About the forgiveness: the remission of sin
7. About the regeneration as the gift of GOD through Him.
These are but a few among the things they witnessed from The LORD, the many infallible proof which they passed through generations in the written words; that eventually, the basis from where we now stand in the faith of The LORD.
It is not only about what we know from what it was written, but also about what we experienced.
The moment we accepted and believed; that after we call upon the name of The LORD JESUS CHRIST, we know that we are saved, and we are sealed now with the Spirit of Promise. That the words which we testified and professed have also changed the lives of them who received it.Ephesians 1:13
Indeed, we are walking in the truth about who GOD is. That in JESUS CHRIST, we are saved and truly blessed.
This is the purpose why the word of God becontinually spread; that others may also be saved!
Acts 1:9-11 KJV -
9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
As the LORD JESUS ascended to heaven in the sight of many witnesses, the same He will come back to earth again in the same place where He ascended.
Watch out, it might be sooner than we think!
B. They were told, as all believers to be watchful; that like them we all should have KNOWLEDGE.
*Know the Truth about GOD in JESUS CHRIST.
*No truth, no way and no life without knowing and understanding JESUS’ words .
*Observe and obey His words
*Watch and be won by them who labor to preach the sound word: from KJV Bible.
*Love the LORD your GOD with all your heart, mind, body and soul.
*Enter into His promised peace with thanksgiving.
*Depart from evil and do what GOD said.
*Give time, talent, treasures and your testimony to share GOD’s love to others and
*Exercise your faith in GOD, so that you may experience His amazing grace and His bountiful love.
KNOWLEDGE of the word of GOD is the only key to real power in overcoming the wiles of the devil, and live a life of real success.
Acts 1:12-14 KJV -
“12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.
13 And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.
14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.”
They abode together in an upper room with Mary the mother, and the half-brothers of The LORD, who before the crucifixion doubted the Godhead of JESUS like the majority of the Jews. But after the resurrection and the ascension of the LORD then their conversion.
(We should take note of this truth: Mary did not remain a virgin; she gave birth to her 4 sons and probably two daughters by her husband Joseph, after the virgin birth of JESUS The Son of GOD. as the prominent religion believe.)
They were all in one accord in prayers and supplication; and then, under the leadership of Peter, the unnamed followers of The Risen CHRIST JESUS Assembled together to start the apostolic ministry.
They were betwixt with fear and courage; but the amazing power of the word of The LORD resonated within them: they should tarry for the most awaited promise of The LORD: they will all be baptized by the HOLY GHOST not many days hence; as what the LORD has spoken to them before He ascended to heaven.
It is the word of The LORD which stills and strengthen them.
The same word that keeps us still when everything within us seems to be a whirlwind of confusion and consolation. Our natural man says: we are not worthy because of who we have been, but the word of the LORD said: we are precious in His sight, and that we can do all things through CHRIST who gives us strength.
Keep moving, keep on living for The LORD. Our labor is not in vain, for our Savior counts for our good works.
Acts 1:15-22 KJV -
“15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)
16 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.
17 For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.
18 Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.
19 And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.
20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.
21 Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
22 Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.”
Peter stood in the midst of the congregation; starting his ministry to lead. His first topic:
Judas Iscariot- the example of unchanged, unconverted and undeniably selfish heart.
He has been with them since the beginning from the baptism of John the Baptist until he led those who took JESUS to condemn.
That after his betraying the LORD for thirty pieces of silver, a reward for iniquity, as how it was written, the money was used to purchase a piece of land, where he committed suicide; falling himself head first and his belly burst that his internal organs, particularly the intestines burst out that his bowels gushed out. The worst end of the one who have walked and served JESUS in His earthly ministering.
Let this be for all of us believers particularly servants of CHRIST, a warning: not because we knew deeper about the word of GOD and in the faith, or even within theservice for long, holding higher offices in the ministry are already invincible. While we are in our human flesh, we should always be reminded to keep ourselves humble and reliant in the knowledge and guidance of The LORD.
Keep the eyes of our soul open to see where we’re heading and how well we are behaving through the lenses of GOD’s words, the ears of our soul be swift to hear the words of The LORD, and the heart of our soul to keep on yearning for the love of The LORD, by constantly feeding the HOLY SPIRIT who indwells us, with the meat from the word of CHRIST.
Let the words of our mouth and the meditation of our heart be acceptable in the sight of GOD: the Omniscient, Omnipresent All powerful and All Knowing, unchangeable GOD.
To Him be glory forever and ever Amen!
Acts 1:23-26 KJV
“(23)And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
[24] And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,
[25] That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.
[26] And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.”
One has fallen, then they prayed for replacement. And GOD answered their prayers. Then Matthias was chosen.
The same way in the ministry; if one fails; because the heart was hardened to remain unconverted by the truth, or wholeheartedly believed but because of health issues, thensurely there will be another whom the LORD anointed to be called for the specific work.
Don’t ever think one is irreplaceable. GOD knows who is able and who is no longer incapable.
Work, like Ministry will and must continue, and there is always someone GOD prepared fitted to perform. Be open, be willing and be ready to accept the role.
Our GOD’s Sovereign Grace allotted time to everyone; and He also has power to enable all whose heart is soften to take heed and answer to His call.
Have a blessed morning to us all
