Romans 8:1-8 KJV
“1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.”
Topic: Walk
This conclusive transitional epistle of Apostle Paul in this chapter is in a form of directives; giving clarity of who are we in CHRIST; on how a believer of CHRIST must behave, while walking daily through life; not just moving one foot after another to reach a certain destination; but the manner of life a Christian should have while living here in this world.
Pointing out that, walking after the flesh is carnality that will lead to physical death- for there are dangers out there in the world which is mortal; wherein a believer of CHRIST must be afraid to walk their feet on according to its ways.
For its ways are against the will of GOD; and that the HOLY SPIRIT of GOD as the Restrainer go against; would not more likely to go hand in hand. The HOLY GHOST warns and prompts; but if we did not hearken to His promptings, He will allow us to walk therein; and will let alone suffer consequences.
We believers will only be open and vulnerable to the attack of the enemy of GOD, the moment we choses to be carnally minded than let the HOLY GHOST lead. Which will henceforth lead to disgrace and eventually to physical death.
Though there is therefore no more condemnation, because of the salvation we receive from CHRIST, however, if we insist on living a life as if we were not redeemed, or, we heard the word of salvation, but hesitant to take heed, then the HOLY SPIRIT will not do anything for us to become an overcomer, even His covering protection will become snare; that it will allow us to be penetrated by the destructive claws of sins. That even the abounding grace which should abound more than sin is, lessens its control to the unrepentant, not willing to listen person.
The grace of GOD and His long suffering will still be there; but it serves as chastisements from the hand of our Loving Heavenly Father.
The decision is still within us: to behave well, to embrace the life in CHRIST and be blessed with tremendous progress, or continue living in sinful ways, stuck up, spiraling downward, living in fear, worries, guilt and full of anxieties.
May we all live with fear and gratitude in the abounding grace of GOD, that we may please Him who has saved us with His blood.
Romans 8:9-17 KJV
“ 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.”
We must have the glimpse of understanding that the operation which GOD had done to our soul, after we truly received CHRIST, have miraculously affected our being that it gradually sensitized us from the worldly sin; though our spirit now is alive, and our soul has become impregnable by sin because of the HOLY SPIRIT that sealed our soul as He indwells; our physical body, mind and emotion sometimes betrays us by unawarely becoming enticed and entangle
From these, we must beware.
That our physical, earthly body, while it is yet contaminated by the sin that was passed to us by our forefather Adam is still vulnerable. That although each one of us has been marked as redeemed, restored and rebo
May we always be reminded:
Sin should have no more power over us. but if it is, let us not hesitate to call upon our Savior for help in times of need.
Yes, our vulnerabilities to sinning still thrive within. This is why the LORD JESUS CHRIST firmly remind His followers by these words which He has spoken to His apostles; to always come to GOD in prayer in His Name, so that we be able to refrain from sinning because of the weakness of our flesh: “Matthew 26: 41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
The Spirit that is in us, bear witness with our spirit that we are no more children of disobedience, but GOD. This is the promptings He did to us every time we go against the law of CHRIST; the pressing in our heart, the guilt and sorrow we are going through, and the desire to reconnect to GOD by asking forgiveness, is the proof that we are renewed. Hence, working our best so that we should not live anymore according to the law of sin. It is the work of the HOLY SPIRIT; reminding us that we are among the sons of GOD, joint heirs with CHRIST; that we should strengthen ourselves not to yield anymore to the power of sin.
Thank be to GOD’s compassionate mercies in CHRIST JESUS redeeming grace.
His Name be glorified forever!
Amen!
Romans 8:18-28 KJV
“18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Reckon; means to determine by reference to a fixed basis
In secular terms: compute, consider, calculate
· Compute: Apostle Paul’ absolute earthly mathematical equation for our multiplied sufferings yield GOD’s compassionate mercy, which is just a fraction of what GOD prepared; way far unequal; incomparable to the price which the LORD had in store for us in His Heavenly Kingdom.
· Consider- Apostle Paul’s hope for the promise of CHRIST: he considered it as his precious possession. A treasure which is unexchangeable; which he is not willing to give up for all those things he lost, after he followed CHRIST. For him, all of them were all but dungs.
· Calculate- Apostle Paul’s understanding about the work of The HOLY SPIRIT was grossly calculated; that even in our unuttered distresses, the HOLY SPIRIT who indwells us groans for us; praying for us when we are overwhelmingly confused and don’t even know how or what to pray, He is the One uttering prayers for us. All of the sufferings we soaked ourselves with so much tears and agony, were all calculated by GOD. We are not measured by the faith we have in Him, but the exactness of His calculation is based on the blood of CHRIST that only can redeem the punishment for our sins.
Our glorious liberty is purchased and priced by GOD’s Dearly Beloved Son JESUS CHRIST.
Computed, considered, calculated wisely and perfectly by our Loving Father the Almighty GOD of all creation. Through us, all creation which also groans will also be delivered the moment we do our part in living a godly life, together with the word of GOD, we can share. So even in hardship, oppression, difficulties and in distresses, all these things work together for good to us all who love GOD, to us all who are called for GOD’s sovereign purpose.
May we continue to strive and be strong by the hope of our salvation, and our joy will always be the LORD.
Romans 8:29-39 KJV
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
GOD in His infinite wisdom did foreknow. That even before the creation of the world, people will be born, like Abel, like Seth, like Enoch, like Noah, like Abraham, like David, and many in different generations to come, whose heartbeat is to listen to His voice, follow His instruction and obey without hesitation. All of us, who hearkened and will come to hearken to the voice of His Son JESUS, will be conformed to His image. He did predestinate each one to be conformed to the image of His beloved Son; that all of us who did, and them who are and who will be called, to be justified, then glorified.
The progression, from when the Sovereignty of GOD and His foreknowledge, even before the creation begin, go hand in hand with His will, that all who will be born in flesh in this earth, there are them, who will choose to follow His lead.
It is not time-bounded, because GOD’s Majesty and His Sovereign will surpass the understanding of every human-being He created. All time for Him is the same; He is the GOD who knows and sees from the beginning to the end, in one setting.
There is no need to question nor reason out, neither believe that He chose whom He wanted to be saved and there are whom He chose to go to hell.
GOD did foreknow all things that happened, what is happening, and will happen, even all who fear Him.
It is as if He, like a computer programmer, has already prepared a program; all people who will be encoded in this world of living have given choices. Whether they obey Him or not, He has foreknowledge; and that all human-being are predestined to supposedly be conformed to the image of His Son. However, only them who have chosen to be conformed to His Son’s image, were called, and to them who answered His call, are to be justified, who are assured and destined to be glorified.
In medical procedures; major or minor surgery, has to be signed by the patient, to whom surgery has to be made. If there is no signed consent, there will be no surgery that will take place.
That is the similitude of how GOD moves within us. GOD knows we all are sinners needing His forgiveness that leads to healing. If His will is to be carried out, He already did predestinate everyone to be conformed in the image of His Son. But His plan could not be carried out, if the person in us would not give our consent, our trust in Him to do what He will.
But the moment we conform, the operation (spiritual surgery) begins. The sealing of the HOLY GHOST, then our obedience to His ordinances; we have already entered into an everlasting, irrevocable, non-replaceable covenant in becoming the child of our Heavenly Father, our Loving GOD. Our Name is written in the registry of Heaven.
Henceforth, our blessed assurance.
Nothing then will separate us from the Love of GOD which is in our LORD and Savior JESUS CHRIST. Conclusively, we can have peace and rest in GOD’s promise, that:
- Not our past failure,
- Not our present situation,
- Not even our future sin,
- No one is able nor will be able to separate us from GOD’s Love which is in His Son JESUS CHRIST.
This is the blessed assurance from the promise of GOD that we all believers of CHRIST have, within us. It is personal, it is intimate, it is unchanging, and it is compiled in the heavenly recordings of GOD.
Therefore, whatever we all are going through, whatever hardship, despair, discouragement, disappointment, trust, have faith and hold on to GOD, for it is His blessed will. We may sometimes feel we are alone in our sufferings, and our tears seem to be unending. But our Loving GOD and Savior JESUS CHRIST is always there watching and waiting to hear our consistent, wholehearted prayers.
Good morning
