1 Corinthians 15:1-8 KJV

[1] Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 

[2] By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 

[3] For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 

[4] And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 

[5] And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 

[6] After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

Verse-by-Verse Insights:

• The Risen Christ and the Gospel that saves

The foundation of the Christian faith is the Gospel of Jesus Christ—His death, burial, and resurrection. This Gospel is God’s power unto salvation and is confirmed by many eyewitnesses.

1. Stand Firm in the Gospel (vv. 1–2)

Paul reminds believers to remain steadfast in the Gospel they had received. Salvation is evidenced by continuing in the truth of God’s Word, not by a shallow or empty profession of faith.

2. Salvation for mankind is the very purpose and The Heart of the Gospel (vv. 3–4)

Paul summarizes the Gospel in three essential truths:

• Christ died for our sins.

• Christ was buried, proving His death.

• Christ rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures. The victorious redemption for all who believe.

These events fulfilled God’s prophetic plan and provide the only way of salvation.

3. Saving Knowledge: The Resurrection Is a Proven Fact (vv. 5–8)

Jesus appeared to Cephas (Peter), the twelve, more than five hundred believers, James: The LORD’s biological brother, all the apostles, and finally to Paul himself. These eyewitnesses testify that Christ truly rose from the dead, making the resurrection a historical reality, not a myth. The very essence of salvation. 

Practical Application:

• Study and keep the Gospel at the center of your faith and daily life.

• Stand firmly on God’s Word and do not be moved by false teachings.

• Share the Gospel confidently, knowing it is supported by both Scripture and credible eyewitness testimony.

• Select- Choose always to live with hope, because Christ’s resurrection assures every believer of eternal life.

The Gospel is the unshakable foundation of Christianity. Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again exactly as the Scriptures foretold. Because He lives, all who trust in Him have forgiveness, assurance of salvation, and the hope of resurrection. Let us remain steadfast in this Gospel and faithfully proclaim it to others.

May the Lord continue to bless our lives. And the ministry which GOD entrusted to us, be use to strengthen fellow believers in the truth of His Word. 

1 Corinthians 15:9-21 KJV

[9] For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 

[10] But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. 

[11] Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed. 

[12] Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? 

[13] But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: 

[14] And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. 

[15] Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. 

[16] For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: 

[17] And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. 

[18] Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. 

[19] If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. 

[20] But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. 

[21] For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

• The Resurrection of Christ- The Foundation of Our Faith

1. The grace of God transforms unworthy sinners into faithful servants (vv. 9–10).

Paul never forgot that he had persecuted the church, yet he also never doubted God’s grace. His ministry was not built on personal merit but on God’s unmerited favor working through him.

Our past does not define our future. God’s grace redeem, renew and revive anyone who believes.  

John 3:16 KJV - 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

2. The Gospel is one unchanging message (v. 11).

Whether preached by Paul or the other apostles, the message remained the same: Christ died, was buried, and rose again. The power is in the Gospel, not in the messenger.

Key Thought: Unity in preaching the truth of the Gospel is more important than the personality of the preacher.

3. GOD’s gift of Christ’s resurrection is the foundation of Christianity (vv. 12–19).

Paul explains that if there were no resurrection:

• Christ would not have risen.

• Preaching would be nothing (vain).

• Faith would be useless.

• Sin would remain unforgiven.

• Believers who died would have no hope.

• Christians would be the most miserable of all people.

Remove the resurrection, and the entire Christian faith collapses. Our salvation stands upon the risen Christ.

4. Guarantees of the believer’s resurrection is the fruit of Christ’s resurrection (vv. 20–21).

Paul triumphantly declares, “But now is Christ risen from the dead.” Jesus is the “firstfruits,” meaning His resurrection is the guarantee that all who belong to Him will also be raised. Through Adam came death; through Christ comes resurrection and eternal life.

Our Blessed Hope: Because Jesus lives, every believer has a living hope beyond the grave.

Practical Application

• Don’t dwell on your past failures; rely on God’s transforming grace.

• Do stand firmly on the truth of the Gospel.

• Decide  to live each day with confidence that Christ has conquered sin and death.

• Determine to let the certainty of the resurrection give you courage, joy, and perseverance in serving the LORD.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is not merely a Bible doctrine—it is the very heart of the Christian faith. God’s grace changed Saul to Paul from a persecutor into an apostle, and the risen Christ gives every believer forgiveness, fair purpose, and the faith in sure hope of eternal life. Because Christ is risen, our faith is living, our sins are forgiven, and our future is secure.

“But now is Christ risen from the dead…” (1 Corinthians 15:20). This glorious truth remains the believer’s greatest hope and victory.

Let us live in hope of resurrection, faith in the victory of the Risen CHRIST, and let Charity keep growing each day in our heart.

[23] But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming. 

[24] Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 

[25] For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 

[26] The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. 

[27] For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted which did put all things under him. 

[28] And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all. 

[29] Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead? [30] And why stand we in jeopardy every hour? [31] I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily. 

[32] If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink; for to morrow we die. 

[33] Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. 

[34] Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. 

[35] But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? 

[36] Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die: 

[37] And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: 

[38] But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.

• The  Resurrection’s Glory and its Certainty

Because Christ rose from the dead, every believer has the sure hope of resurrection and eternal life. This truth should transform how we live, suffer, and serve God today.

1. Two Representatives of Humanity (vv. 22–23)

• Through Adam, sin and death entered the world, bringing death upon all mankind.

• Through Christ, all who belong to Him will be made alive at His coming.

• The Christ is the “firstfruits”—His resurrection guarantees the future resurrection of every believer.

2. The Risen Christ’s Complete Victory (vv. 24–28)

• Christ will reign until every enemy is defeated.

• The last enemy is death, which will be destroyed forever.

• In the end, God’s perfect kingdom will be fully established, and “God may be all in all.” This reveals His ultimate authority and eternal glory.

3. The Resurrection Gives Purpose to Christian Living (vv. 29–34)

• Paul argues that if there were no resurrection, suffering, sacrifice, and faithful service for Christ would be meaningless.

• Instead of living for temporary pleasures (“Let us eat and drink; for tomorrow we die”), believers are called to live holy lives, resist corrupt influences, and awaken to righteousness.

• Our hope of resurrection motivates us to endure hardship and remain faithful.

4. The Resurrection Body (vv. 35–38)

• Paul uses the illustration of a seed: it must be buried before new life appears.

• Likewise, our present body is like a seed; once we buried in the faith of Christ, God will raise it into a new, glorified body according to His perfect design.

• The resurrection is not impossible—it is part of God’s wonderful creative power.

Life Application

The certainty of Christ’s resurrection gives believers confidence to live faithfully, endure trials patiently, reject worldly influences, and look forward with joyful hope to the day when death itself will be defeated. Since our future is secure in Christ, let us live today for His glory and not merely for the pleasures of this passing world.

We are alive by the grace of GOD in Christ JESUS our Savior. Let our lives be a living testimony of His wondrous works. 

1 Corinthians 15:39-50 KJV

[39]All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. 

[40] There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 

[41] There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. 

[42] So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: 

[43] It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:

 [44] It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 

[45] And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 

[46] Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. 

[47] The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. 

[48] As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

[50] Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

• The Resurrection of Christ  is a Promise of Believer’s Glorious Resurrection Body

1. God’s wisdom created different kinds of bodies for different purposes (vv. 39–41).

Paul reminds us that God designed every living creature and every heavenly body with its own unique glory. This demonstrates God’s wisdom and power, making it easy for Him to provide believers with a new resurrection body.

Lesson: The God who created all things is fully able to give His children a glorified body fit for eternity.

2. GOD wondrous work: the resurrection body is far superior to the earthly body (vv. 42–44).

Our present body is subject to corruption, dishonor, weakness, and death. At the resurrection, God will transform it into a body that is incorruptible, glorious, powerful, and spiritual.

Lesson: Death is not the end for the believer—it is the doorway to a glorious transformation.

3. GOD’s will: Christ is the source of our new life (vv. 45–49).

Adam brought physical life and, through sin, death. Jesus Christ, the “last Adam,” gives spiritual and eternal life. Just as we now bear Adam’s earthly image, believers will one day bear Christ’s heavenly image.

Lesson: Our eternal hope rests not in Adam, but in Jesus Christ, who gives everlasting life.

4. GOD’s way of Holiness for mankind: Heaven requires a transformed body (v. 50).

Our present flesh and blood bodies cannot inherit God’s eternal kingdom because they are mortal and corruptible. Only the glorified body God gives at the resurrection is fit for heaven. He transform our terrestrial body to celestial form. It is His way and only Him is able to do that.

Lesson: Entrance into God’s kingdom depends not on improving our earthly body, but on God’s transforming power through Christ.

This passage assures every believer that the resurrection is both real and glorious. Our frail earthly body is temporary, but through the faith of Jesus Christ we will receive a perfect, immortal, and heavenly body. Therefore, let us live with confidence, looking forward to the day when we shall bear the image of our risen Lord.

“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”

1 Corinthians 15:51-58 KJV

[51] Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 

[52] In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 

[53] For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 

[54] So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 

[55] O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

 [56] The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 

[57] But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 

[58] Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

• The Redeemed, Believer’s Final Victory in Christ

Paul closes this great chapter with the glorious mystery of the believer’s future. At the coming of Christ, “in a twinkling of an eye” v52 both the living and the dead in Christ will be instantly transformed into glorified, incorruptible, and immortal bodies. This change is not about the good works nor earned by man,  but is God’s promise to all who believe in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Death, once the greatest enemy of mankind because of sin, has been forever defeated through Christ’s resurrection. Sin brought death, and the law has been the strength of sin; but Jesus bore our sin and conquered the grave, giving every believer complete victory.

Because this victory is certain, Christians are called to remain steadfast, unmoveable, and faithful in serving the Lord. No act of obedience, sacrifice, or labor done for Christ is ever wasted, for God rewards faithful service both now and in eternity.

Key Lessons:

• Christ’s return will bring the complete transformation of every believer.

• Conquered sin, death, and the grave forever by JESUS our Redeemer.

• Conclusively, our hope rests in God’s promise of resurrection and eternal life.

• Certain is our future victory; this should inspire faithful and unwavering service today.

• Counted furthermore, is our every work done for the Lord; for it has eternal value and is never in vain.

Conclusion:

The resurrection is the believer’s blessed hope and final triumph. Therefore, let us live each day with confidence, Christ-likeness, with charitable and joyful perseverance, knowing that our victory is secure in Christ, and our labor for Him will be eternally rewarded.
