In The House Of The LORD

September 16, 2017-Saturday-#480 Daily Morning Bible Reading and Meditation- Psalm 23 KJV

***Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.***

[1] The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

[2] He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

[3] He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

[4] Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

[5] Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

[6] Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Words to ponder for today:

In The House of The LORD

This psalm of David gives emphasis about the life of the psalmist implying as well the lives of them who are in The House of The LORD.

The House of The LORD meanings: Thesaurus-  house of prayer, house of worship, place of worship - any building where congregations gather for prayer.

A Baptist Pastor Commentator John Gill expounded:
"and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever; which may denote his constant attendance on the public worship of God, of which he had been deprived in time past, being driven out from it, but now he enjoyed it, and believed he ever should; or it may design his being a member of the church of God, and a pillar in the house and temple of the Lord, that should never go out; see Revelation 3:12; or it may regard the assurance he had of dwelling in the house not made with hands, eternal, in the heavens, Christ's Father's house, in which are many mansions, sure dwellings, and quiet resting places for his people, and that to all eternity. The Targum interprets it of the house of the sanctuary; and Kimchi expounds the whole verse in a petitionary way, "may goodness and mercy"

As I read this Psalm, I have these in my mind when a person choose to be in the house of The LORD:

- Profession of faith and trust in subjecting under the Shepherding of The LORD commends Assurance of Pleasurable Contentment.

[2] He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

- Provident leading of The LORD commends Assurance of Providential Comfort

[3] He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

- Prudentially trusting the Merciful and gracious Shepherd commends Assurance of Preservation

[4] Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

- Piousness and Perseverance in closely walking with The Shepherd commends Assurance of Protection

[5] Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
-  Proclamation of faith and trust with boldness of action in The Shepherd commence  Assurance of Power over evil works

[6] Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

-Pronouncement of faith and hope in The LORD provided assurance of salvation; having the zeal of The HOLY SPIRIT commends all Privileges, intended only for them who Accept, Believe and Call upon The Name of The LORD JESUS CHRIST, The ONLY Begotten SON of GOD, The Compassionate, merciful and Loving Heavenly Father.

Ephesians 2:4-10 KJV
[4] But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
[5] Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
[6] And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
[7] That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
[8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
[9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. [
10] For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Let all whose desire is to dwell in The House of The LORD give praises only unto  GOD and The Father of our LORD JESUS CHRIST who is The Good Shepherd. All glory belongs unto His Holy Name!

Good morning!
