October 18, 2017-Wednesday-#512 Daily Morning Bible Reading and Meditation-Psalm 55 KJV
***Cast thy burden upon the Lord , and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.***
[5] Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.
[10] Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.
[11] Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.
[12] For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it : neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:
[13] But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.
[14] We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.
[15] Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.
[16] As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me.
[17] Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.
[22] Cast thy burden upon the Lord , and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
[23] But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.
Words to ponder for today:
Cast thy burden upon the LORD , and He shall sustain thee
It is my surmise that David penned this psalm during the treacherous connivance of his son Absalom and his trusted right-hand man, Ahithophel in 2 Samuel 15:18, theretofore, to overthrow king David from his throne and instate his vengeful and rebellious son Absalom as the king; whom, after King David had forgiven him from killing his half brother Amnon, deceitfully work subtilely to gain the approval of many.
Heretofore, implies that we cannot really be safe even the very person whom we know are with us, stand besides us and is supported to our cause.
There be many that are faithful and loyal, but just as what happen to King David, sometimes The LORD allowed such things to happen, when we choose to walk away from Him by sinning. GOD keeps silent when we do our own ways, and allowed the enemy to stir up evil deeds, using the very people whom we loved and trusted.
Should not King David had done evil against Uriah, the husband of his most desired, lustfully, coveted subject woman Bathsheba, he would not get into this frightening and fearful deadly situation.
Evil begets evil.
However, when David had wholeheartedly repented and instated his faith and hope in GOD, even if GOD turns away His eyes for a season, His lovingkindness and tender mercies keeps him safe, secure and sounds. He listen to his prayers and cryings, lifting him up and preserved his kingdom and punished the traitors Ahithophel, who hanged himself; while his son Absalom was killed.
GOD is a merciful Heavenly Father. One should really learn to accept his or her misdeeds, mistakes, misconstrue and wholeheartedly repent from sinning. Plead to GOD in prayers and yield down to Him as humble as a child; embracing and holding on to the promise of CHRIST. For His tenderness is everlasting, to them who are sorrowful to repentance.
The LORD JESUS CHRIST has spoken: Matthew 11:28-29 KJV
[28] Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
[29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
The righteous of mankind fails, even the strength yielded. But thanks be to GOD; for His everlasting mercies and forgiveness towards us; for His love and compassion for us supersedes even His righteousness and holiness.
Let us all be humbled enough to yield our sins to Him and embrace the forgiveness He has given to us, by giving His life on that cross. He shall surely sustain us if we cast our burdens to HIM.
Have a blessed morning to all!
Psalm 55:1-23 KJV
[1] Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication. [2] Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise; [3] Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me. [4] My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me. [5] Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me. [6] And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest. [7] Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah. [8] I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest. [9] Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city. [10] Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it. [11] Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets. [12] For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it : neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: [13] But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance. [18] He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me. [19] God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God. [20] He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant. [21] The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords. [22] Cast thy burden upon the Lord , and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. [23] But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.
