October 3, 2017- Tuesday-#497 Daily Morning Bible Reading and Meditation- Psalm 40 KJV
***He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. ***
[1] I waited patiently for the Lord ; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
[2] He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
[3] And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it , and fear, and shall trust in the Lord .
[4] Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
[5] Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them , they are more than can be numbered.
[13] Be pleased, O Lord , to deliver me: O Lord , make haste to help me.
[14] Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.
[16] Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The Lord be magnified.
Words to ponder for today:
Out of An Horrible Pit, Out of A Miry Clay
Matthew Henry's commentary:
"The great distress and trouble that the psalmist had been in. He had been plunged into a horrible pit and into miry clay (v. 2), out of which he could not work himself, and in which he found himself sinking yet further. He says nothing here either of sin, or of the sickness of his body or the insults of his enemies, and therefore we have reason to think it was some inward disquiet and perplexity of spirit that was now his greatest grievance. Despondency of spirit under the sense of God's withdrawings, and prevailing doubts and fears about the eternal state, are indeed likened into a horrible pit and miry clay, and have been so, to many a dear child of God."---------
For some who do not have knowledge on whom they have to ask help, who called upon their gods, yet were unknown, bizarre, even their ideas of who the GOD of heaven is dimmed ; is indeed a horrible pit. Down there is that grossly, filthy affliction of sin which is apparently swallowed because of helplessness, hopelessness and salvation seems to be too impossible for them.
But thanks be to The Everlasting GOD of hope, mercy and deliverance. Salvation is made possible when one cried out for help, turn aside from wallowing in the miry clay which is the filthiness of sin, to cling unto the Only Hope, which was instilled in the conscience of every conscious beings.
It is only through faith, that after a person cleave unto that innermost desire to wait upon The LORD, that the loving Hand of GOD shall moved and reach out to them who abjectly denied self will, who have believed that it is Only GOD and His planned salvation that can saved, and have come to accept that saving grace is ONLY through believing in the death burial and resurrection of The Only Begotten Son of GOD, JESUS CHRIST. To Whom is given power to rule over all the entire universe, much more to be the Judge of all souls.
After a person realized his hopeless condition, change his course to call upon help from The Living and True GOD, then and only then, GOD will hear his cry and prayers. And that will be the starting point that he will be blessed; he shall walk in safety, and his goings shall be stablished, that even his enemies shall be ashamed to face him.
I even I, can testify of GOD's goodness after I turn away from my sinful heart's desire, and refuse to give in to feed my appetite in sinning, That GOD totally brought me up out of that horrible pit and that miry clay of sin I once wallowed in. That the testimony of my life I have lived, even until the life am living now is a proof of how GOD has tremendously change my life, set me up upon the rock and stablished my goings.
I am forever His, and no man is able to pluck me out of my Father's, hand.
This is the blessed promise my LORD and Savior JESUS CHRIST had spoken:
John 10:27-29 KJV
[27] My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
[28] And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
[29] My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
I am now saved out of that horrible pit and was lifted up from that miry clay; was cleansed and purified, justified and became heirs of GOD with My LORD and Savior JESUS CHRIST. I now belong to GOD's beloved people, safe, secured and satisfied.
How about you?
I hope and pray you are too!
Good morning!
Psalm 40:1-17 KJV
[6] Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required. [7] Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, [8] I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. [9] I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O Lord , thou knowest. [10] I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation. [11] Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord : let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me. [12] For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me. [13] Be pleased, O Lord , to deliver me: O Lord , make haste to help me. [14] Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil. [15] Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha. [16] Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The Lord be magnified. [17] But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.
