October 2, 2017-Monday-#496 Daily Morning Bible Reading and Meditation- Psalm 39 KJV
***I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue***
[1] I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.
[4] Lord , make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am .
[5] Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.
[6] Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches , and knoweth not who shall gather them.
[7] And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.
[8] Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish.
[12] Hear my prayer, O Lord , and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were .
[13] O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and be no more.
Words to ponder for today:
That I Sin Not With My Tongue
According to Charles Spurgeon:
This government of the tongue is a most important part of our ways; it is a very essential part of holy discipline, yet we have heard of one saint who said that he had lived for seventy years, and had tried to control his tongue, but that he had only begun to understand the art when he died. David said, “I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue;”

Indeed! communication, spoken words and chitchats are all a part of our daily living. One cannot spend a day without speaking. According to BDBcommunication.com, 58%-64% are introverts and have a public speaking anxiety which is called Glossophobia ( fear of public speaking). Hence, this is one of the major cause of miscommunication.
If a person is afraid to speak, he or she cannot deliver his or her ideas, reasoning or self defense clearly. However, the most intricate issue to resolve are those who have no control over their spoken words.
The psalmist here resolved to be watchful of his ways so that he would not sin with his tongue. He poured out his words in prayers upon His GOD whom he knew He only is able to understand every words, clear or unclear, he would have spoken. He also knew the fact that every words he spake in the ears of his enemies, whether it be good or bad, will always brings him down to trouble.
In our LORD JESUS CHRIST era, even if The LORD had spoken the truth, His hearers, haters, even His very household , get mad at him because of His teachings.
John 3:10-12 KJV
[10] Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
[11] Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
[12] If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
The LORD also taught His disciple to be watchful of every vain words that comes out of their mouth, and it was written for our instruction: Matthew 12:36-37 KJV
[36] But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
[37] For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Though The Psalmist seems to be impatient in his speaking to know his end, because of illness, yet he had resolved in his heart to keep watching his ways even his words. An example given to us that we should also be careful of our every spoken words.
We too sometimes are impatient and complain a lot when we are into an uncomfortable situation. We sometimes murmur a lot about many things in the ears of others, even to the presence of them whose faith is dependent on us; in our spoken words and actions. Instead of doing so, let us bend our knees, kneel down and pray. Let us be reminded of what is written in the book of James 1:26 KJV
[26] If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
Let our faith in GOD speaks for us. Let it be not only in our thoughts, but in our words, much more in our action, which shall give praises, honor and glory unto our GOD and our Savior JESUS CHRIST.
Have a pleasant morning to all!
Psalm 39:1-13 KJV
[1] I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me. [2] I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred. [3] My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue, [4] Lord , make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am . [9] I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; because thou didst it . [10] Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of thine hand. [11] When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity. Selah. [12] Hear my prayer, O Lord , and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were . [13] O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and be no more.
