***Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.***
[1] A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.
[4] The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
[7] There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.
[10] Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
[12] Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.
[13] Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
[14] The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
[18] Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.
[20] He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
[24] He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
[25] The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.
Words to ponder for today:
Whoso Despised The Word Shall Be Destroy
I wanted to highlight verse 13: for so, is of the essence in observing the rest of the verses.
Pastor John Gill, a Baptist Pastor Commentator commented:
“Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed,.... The word of God. Either Christ, the essential Word; which must be a great evil, considering the dignity of his person; great ingratitude, considering the grace of his office; very dangerous, considering what a quick, sharp, and powerful Word he is: and such may be said to despise him who despise his ministers, and the Gospel preached by them; and which may be meant by the word, that being the word of God and of truth, the word of righteousness, peace, life, and salvation; and is to them that perish foolishness; and to whom it is so, they shall perish, and be punished with everlasting destruction, for their contempt of it, and disobedience to it. Or the written word may be meant, the Scriptures, which are given by inspiration of God, and therefore ought to be had in the greatest reverence; and yet are greatly slighted and despised by the man of sin and his followers; who set up and prefer their unwritten traditions to them, and so make them of none effect: such are all false teachers, that despise or abuse them, they bring destruction to themselves; for so the words may be rendered, "shall bring destruction to himself", or shall receive detriment from it.
But he that feareth the commandment; receives the word with reverence, trembles at it; fears God, and keeps his commandments, and fears to break them: he
shall be rewarded; with good; for in keeping the commandments of God there is great reward: or, "shall enjoy peace", or "be in safety"; for great peace have they which love the law of God, and serve it: or, "shall be sound, and in health"; when those that despise it "shall be corrupted"

What is the word mentioned here?
It is this Bible I am reading, it is called The Word of GOD.
Word is also use and referred to, as how The LORD JESUS CHRIST was addressed: John 1:1-3,17
What are the commandments to be feared?
It is the commandments written in this bible. There are many man-made commandments, but the commandments that make a person human, comes only from a The Word of GOD : which is the Bible.
Words and commandments such as in this proverbs when read, are framed to mold Human beings into a better persons.
Such are occasionally and repeatedly written from chapter to chapter, for us to get better understanding of how The LORD is well pleased in them who hears and obey instructions; but how much he hated them who despised it.
If we will take notice the form proverbs is written, how it was detailedly written with the opposites: The good deeds and the bad; the goodness of GOD to them who obey, and the promise rewards for them who fears His commandments, so as the frustration, the fall, the famished and the fainting of them who foolishly despised the words of Instruction from this bible.
The root of everything comes from the instruction of the father to his sons. If fathers did not get godly instruction even wisdom to live orderly, with understanding and godliness from their parents, then surely, they learned wickedness, evil, laziness, despiteful and hatred which in turn will be an example of their children. If the parents did not diligently impose strict discipline even using rod of correction to the sit of understanding of their children , expect to raise a brutish, disobedient, delinquent, scornful and foolish children.
This how it was written here:
“He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.”
Despise not the word of GOD. Despise not The LORD JESUS CHRIST and fear His commandments; for in them are life of peace, joy and blessings.
Be warned from this verse:
Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.
Be blessed today and ever!
