Lesson #21: Understanding

“11 Then take silver and gold, and make crowns, and set them upon the head of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest;

12 And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the Lord:

13 Even he shall build the temple of the Lord; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.”

Behold The Man Whose Name Is The BRANCH

In this chapter, are given prophetic vision for Zechariah to write; so that we, who are looking unto JESUS will get a glimpse of understanding, that mostly, the heavenly things are unseen but until in this our present time are being preach and is still effectively working.

Some words here are excerpted from the commentary of enduring words:

Enhanced to be conformable to the King James Bible we use as the basis of our faith and practice.

A. The vision of the four chariots and their horses.

“a. Four chariots were coming from between two mountains: Since the original text says the two mountains, it is safe to take most people assumption that they are the Mount of Olives and Mount Zion. Mountains of bronze associates these mountains with strength and judgment. Some says, in spiritual and humanly realms, these two mountains symbolizes and represent the two love which The LORD JESUS CHRIST comprised the two commandments: The Love for GOD and the love for others. Matthew 22:37-40

b. Four chariots.… red horses…black horses…white horses…grisled(grizzled) and bay horses. The horsemen of Zechariah 1 were observers on reconnaissance. These four chariots and their horses seem to be hostile agents of God’s judgment, emissaries of His war against the earth.

i. Some commentators want to identify these four chariots with Daniel’s four world empires (Daniel 2 and Daniel 7) but the colors essentially are the same as the four horsemen in Revelation 6, the emissaries of God’s judgment. Some commentators connect these with the angelic messengers of judgment in Revelation 7:1-3.

ii. “In the usual Scriptural symbolism red speaks of warblack of famine and deathwhite of victory, and grizzled of pestilence (Ezekiel 14:21, Revelation 6:1-8).”

2. (4-8) What the vision means.

Four spirits of heaven: This means that these four chariots were actually four angelic beings sent from God.Therefore these may not be exactly the same as the four horsemen of Revelation 6, but the idea of their mission and purpose is similar. To give judgement to the unbelieving through wars, famine, death, pestilence and sicknesses. But to the believing, red represents victory in love, black for mourning for the death of unsaved love ones, white for peace, and grizzled and bay represent steadfastness in trials.

God’s Spirit is only at rest when His enemies and the enemies of His people are judged and bring forth under subjection and submission to His words. Herein is where us saved people in The LORD gives rest and pleasantries to our GOD if we do our works: to win the lost, and bring the unsaved to The LORD.

B. The crowning of Joshua, the high priest.

1. (9-11) A command to make a crown for Joshua.

a. Take of them of the captives The refugees continued should be brought back from the exile; most of them who gain wealth in Babylon should give back their portion silver gold.

b. HeldaiTobijah, and Jedaiah: according to some schothe meaning of the names (Heldai means robustTobijah means God’s goodness, and Jedaiah means God knows), considering the meaning of these names in its senses, that God knew that through His goodness, He would put His king on the throne, and He would do it in a robust manner.

c. Make crowns, and set them on the head of Joshua: It was unthinkable to crown, (not one but many) a high priest because priests were never crowned as kings and kings were never priests.

i. 2 Chronicles 26 tells the tragic story of King Uzziah who tried to function as a priest, and was stricken with leprosy until the end of his life. Throughout the history of Israel God commanded a separation between the religious and the civil leadership of Israel.

ii. Crowns: This was definitely royal crowns and was not the customary headdress of the high priest.

d. On the head of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest: There already was a strong, godly civil leader in Jerusalem named Zerubbabel. It seems like it would have made a lot more sense to crown Zerubbabel instead of Joshua…the high priest.

But Joshua was crowned because a coming descendant of David to rule over Israel would be JESUS, prefigured by the high priest Joshua. And by the way, JESUS our LORD’s Name in Hebrew is Yeshuah. Which pronounce as Joshua; meaning: Savior.

i. Liberal critics are so certain that Zerubbabel should be crowned here that they think that the text is in error. This misses the whole point because this crowning of Joshua prophesies the King-Priest JESUS, in Him millennial reign .

C Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH…

..and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the Lord:

13 Even he shall build the temple of the Lord; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.

This definitely is not Joshua nor Zerubbabel; but the prophetic presentation of the coming High Priest and King JESUS CHRIST. Who shall be both King in His glory and The High Priest; in whose Name was builded the temple of GOD not made by hand, but by The HOLY SPIRIT who indwells in the hearts of all saved people, whose coming were by acceptance, by believing and by calling upon His Name. The Lamb of GOD, who after He was crucified, died, buried resurrected and ascended up, sat down at the right hand of the throne of GOD.

Acts 7KJV

44 Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking unto Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen.

45 Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;

46 Who found favour before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.

47 But Solomon built him an house.

48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,

49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?

50 Hath not my hand made all these things?

Hebrews 1KJV

God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spakein time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:

Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thouart my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saithAnd let all the angels of God worship him.

And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angelsspirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

But unto the Son he saithThy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

Hebrews 12

2 looking unto Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Our Bible the King James Version interpret itself. One interpretation, but many different application. We can apply it as an example in our everyday lives. We just have to make sure it is properly applied and intended for our generation. Otherwise it will create confusion.

Let each one of us grow in understanding the word of GOD through:

• Our union with The HOLY SPIRIT
• Our unity as believers being One, in the body of CHRIST
• OUR unwavering faith in GOD strengthened by His words.

Ephesians 5:14-21KJV

14 Wherefore he saithAwake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Have a Blissful Day Ahead!

Zechariah 6KJV

1And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of brass.

In the first chariot were red horses; and in the second chariot black horses;

And in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot grisled and bay horses.

Then I answered and said unto the angel that talked with me, What are these, my lord?

And the angel answered and said unto me, These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth.

The black horses which are therein go forth into the north country; and the white go forth after them; and the grisled go forth toward the south country.

And the bay went forth, and sought to go that they might walk to and fro through the earth: and he said, Get you hence, walk to and fro through the earth. So they walked to and fro through the earth.

Then cried he upon me, and spake unto me, saying, Behold, these that go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country.

And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

10 Take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah, which are come from Babylon, and come thou the same day, and go into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah;

11 Then take silver and gold, and make crowns, and set them upon the head of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest;

12 And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The Branch; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the Lord:

13 Even he shall build the temple of the Lord; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.

14 And the crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the temple of the Lord.

15 And they that are far off shall come and build in the temple of the Lord, and ye shall know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto you. And this shall come to pass, if ye will diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God.
